The volunteers of VKIDFT had actively participated in the programme .The seminar covered a topics related to Indian Constitution ,laws and new regulations by University Grants Commission .

The NSS unit of vkidft had organized a yuvamanthan-Model United Nations (YMUN) on 26/02/2024,Monday. 14 students are selected from food technology 23 batch to represent 7 countries,2 students in each team .The countries that were fixed for the programme were India,Russia,France,United States of America,Brazil,Germany and United Kingdom.The volunteers have actively participated in the programme .The central theme of the YMUN- was “climate change”.The whole conference was presided by NSS Programme Co ordinators of VKIDFT, Dr.Jose Mathew and Dr.Divya M.P

The flag was hoisted by Dean Dr. S N Rajakumar sir.He also delivered the republic day message.Followed by the flag hoisting ceremony there was cultural programmes organized by Nss volunteers.Both teaching and non-teaching staffs and volunteers were present on the occasion. The programme was concluded by sweet distribution .

The volunteers of the NSS VKIDFT Unit initiated a fund collection for the ‘We Care’ project on 1 St October 2022 and and the collected amount was donated to the Kerala Social Security Mission on 26 th October 2022.We could collect 11000 Rs totally and transferred officially by Dean, VKIDFT Dr.S N Rajakumar through Gpay. . NSS programme officer Dr.Jose Mathew and NSS VKIDFT Unit executive members were present during the official transaction .“We Care” is a payment gateway for mobilizing funds for implementing various social security schemes /programmes by the Kerala Social Security Mission under the Social Justice Department. Kerala Social Security Mission is proposing “We Care” not only to collect contribution for various charity programmes but also to propagate the message of charity, civic sense and social responsibility among the society.

As a part of International day for older persons, October 1, VKIDFT Mannuthy NSS Unit organized a visit to Old age day care centre ’ Prathyasha Trust’ Viyyur on October 1, 2023. We sponsored one day meal for the inhabitants of ‘Prathyasha’ and donated the clothes collected from ‘ Sparsham clothing drive’. The volunteers and faculty of VKIDFT contributed to the clothing drive. The drive was conducted September 23 to 30. We spent half day in ‘ PRATHYASHA’ interacting with the inhabitants.

NSS Unit of VKIDFT Mannuthy organised several games and competitions as a part of observing National Sports day which involved participation of volunteers in sports and fitness activities suggested by Department of Youth affairs, Government of India. We conducted competition for indoor games like Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Tug of war and Fun activities like Lemon race on various days from August 19 to 29. National sports day is celebrated on behalf of the birthday of the Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand to commemorate India’s deep rooted tradition of Sports.

Padavu 2023, a State-level dairy farmers’ meet, was held at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Mannuthy, Thrissur, from February 10 to 15. The event was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on February 13. NSS volunteers of VKIDFT volunteered the whole event from start to the end. Volunteers enthusiastically came forward for their support services like giving directions to the participants, assisting the organisers of the event, supplying food and water , arranging the stage and rooms etc. Some of us also carried out a flashmob for the purpose of adbvertising the event.We conducted flashmobs at nearly 17 main places of Thrissur like kunnamkulam bus stand, Shakthan stand, Vadakkancherry bus stand ,Thekkinkadu ground,in front of Chempookkavu DD office etc.

VKIDFT Mannuthy NSS Unit organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with Thrissur general hospital blood centre on 3rd April 2023.The camp began at 10.00 am.20 volunteers came forward to donate blood during the camp which included teaching & non-teaching staff, students & non-student donors. The blood donors were given lemon juice ,biscuits and frooti after donating the blood in order to reenergize themselves. The blood donors were provided with a blood donation certificate card by the Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council and Kerala State AIDS Control Society. The medical team was provided with lunch and the camp concluded at around 2.30 p.m.

Dairy and Food Technology batch of VKIDFT NSS UNIT conducted campus cleanliness drive for 1 hour under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr.Jose Mathew .The students cleaned the college campus and collected plastic garbage from every nook and corner of the college premises. Around 40 NSS volunteers participated in this cleanliness drive.

Volunteers of NSS VKIDFT UNIT and the faculty of VKIDFT took an anti-drug pledge and formed the anti-drug human chain on 1st November 2022, Kerala Piravi Day, to mark the end of the first phase of the state government’s ‘No to drugs’ campaign. The students were made aware of the adverse health consequences of drugs. People lose their ability and conscience due to the use of drugs and the usage of drugs increasing day by day among youngsters. Everyone should fight against drugs and volunteer for a better society. The NSS Unit of VKIDFT celebrated NSS Day on 24th September 2022. We arranged a meeting for all our volunteers at 2pm and after that we conducted a ‘Collage Making Competition’ on the topic ‘Dog Attacks on Rise: Man’s Best Friend Or Foe'. Students from all classes participated in the competition and of which Navya, Vishnupriya and Sreelakshmi (Team D) of 2021 batch secured the first position. We also arranged a cleaning activity in the campus after the competition.

This year NSS unit of VKIDFT celebrated our Independence Day with great enthusiasm and joy. On that special day, the sense of happiness and pride could be clearly seen on everyone’s faces as India was celebrating our 76th Independence Day on August 15th 2022. The programme started at 9am with the parade that was led by our NCC cadets. Dean VKIDFT Dr. SN Rajkumar Sir unfurled the National flag and everyone sang our National anthem by saluting the flag. Dean delivered the Independence Day message to everyone. Registrar Shri. Sudheer Babu sir and Finance OfficerOfficer (in charge)Shri.TR Manoj sir also spoke in the gathering. After that different programmes were presented by our students. Vivek of 2020 batch delivered a patriotic speech. Finally the programme ended by distributing sweets to everyone gathered in the function.

The Directorate of Entrepreneurship had organised relief activities on August 8th 2022 at Flood Relief Camps where cattle were relocated due to flooding at Chalakudy and Koratty in Thrissur, as per request by DAHO, AHD. The NSS volunteers of VKIDFT along with the programme officer Dr Jose Mathew visited the camp sites and cleaned the sheds and tile factory where the cattle are temporarily housed. Cattle feed from SANFT, Dept of Nutrition and fodder from CBF Thumburmuzhy were also supplied to the affected animals.

The programme was held at VKIDFT Seminar Hall on 26th April 2022. The programme started by 2pm. Afina Ayoob of 2020 batch welcomed the gathering. Dr. SN Rajkumar [Dean VKIDFT] inaugurated the function. Dr. AK Beena [Professor & Academic Head] and Dr. Jose Mathew [NSS Programme Officer] felicitated the function. Our Resource Person Mr. Muhamed Aksath Rahil [EX VS, NSS CEA & Arise Tutor] has handled the session very beautifully with his first hand experience on many NSS activities. Many students shared their positive feedback about the class and it was a great experience for our students. Hima Viswanath [NSS Secretary] thanked the gathering and the programme ended by 4pm.
